Taking some ‘me time’ at The Ideal Home Show

Spring is here and with the new season I am happy to introduce our new blog reviews by kicking of with a lifestyle piece on the Ideal Home Show 2017. We are starting the new season on a topic to balance out the nature of work in our lives. It is my aim to communicate the essential balances that make life that much easier when we take time out.

This being the first blog review in this format (i.e. personalised) I am pleased to be covering the Ideal Home Show 2017 and the EYB team will be visiting the show to embrace the full experience. There is so much to do so we have to be sensible with our time. Our plan is to visit during the first part of the day and stop for lunch at the show.

I want to digress a little to say I personally want to recognise that we can be very busy business ladies, career women, mums, wives, sisters, aunties and grandma’s. And we give ourselves relentlessly to others, so let’s make a promise to give back to us . The key message for this blog is enjoy taking some me time.

Digression over.

If others could do with some idea’s for the Ideal Home Show please don’t forget to share with other EY colleagues and parents online. Add @eybusiness (Twitter) or our Facebook page Early Years Business Magazine, to your social networks. Thanks!

Let’s get into this.

Traditionally on Mother’s Day, my family love to take me out for a meal and buy me a gift. This year I think I will settle for a pair of jeans from TopShop. We also take time to join forces with our Mum’s as well as our church families. We celebrate the day together.  We eat, laugh and spend quality time and love every moment. This year we will do the same…at a new location… The Ideal Home Show.

So why am I doing this?

First let me jump around a little. Shake my hair and dance to the beat of any rhythm! I am excited to write this blog. From two perspectives. Those who know me my aim is to inspire and motivate my readers and bring a lifestyle angle to those in early years. So do give us a shout if this type of blog works for you.

The first time I covered an event like this, it was The Baby Show London, I was heavily pregnant (eight months or so) and wanted to try something new.

I interviewed Annabel Karmel known for her cook books, cooking shows and food range . We had so much fun.

So here I am again bringing an outside flavour to our lovely community.

Also as this is my first lifestyle blog piece for EYBmag, whilst I discover my blog readers lifestyle ‘likes’. I really hope that readers book time out for themselves. It would be extra nice to meet you at the event.  And even if you don’t live in London… we have got that covered with another Ideal Home Show in Manchester on 11 June.

I am going to share some of the things that I would like to do as we as a family unwind from a busy week. We love spending good times together, even though the older children have their plans, we always come together to do family. Its an important value to us all. So in a fun surrounding, eating, drinking, watching shows and being pampered let’s make a plan and have fun with The Ideal Home Show.

I will share more photos at @eybusiness about what we get up to on the day.

I spotted this for you ladies. It’s a competition for schools and communities called Cultivation Street hosted at The Ideal Home Show. Have a look on their site to find out if your setting is able to participate? You could win vouchers for your outdoor play area.

My agenda:

The first place I want to check out, is for my husband and the boys. Magic FM have a little creative Mother’s Day card workshops.

Whilst they are making cards. I will visit Haylee’s Make Up Shows at 11.30am and 1.30pm.  My daughter’s loves all things creative so together we can experience the latest fashion and make up trends.

Perhaps we’ll visit the Chocolate Making workshops at The Cook Shop and learn how to eat chocolate properly!

Next I would like to try out the VIP lounge and maybe meet a few parents and talk to them about their experience and then onto the pamper lounge. I may have a nail treatment. Let’s see how it goes.

This should take us up to lunch. We plan to book a table at The Grand Hall Tea Rooms and have a spot of lunch.

I hope to see you there and don’t forget to share with parents, settings or other mums in your network. Let me know how you get on @eybusiness
